About us

The Dissector is a civic and community media platform dedicated to explaining public issues clearly and responsibly.

We exist because too much information about governance, policy, and public life is either too complex, too sensational, or too distorted for everyday people to use. The Dissector breaks things down: calmly, carefully, and in plain language, so citizens can understand what is happening around them and why it matters.

What We Do

We:

  • Explain governance, policy, and public decisions in simple terms
  • Highlight the issues that often go unnoticed
  • Encourage informed conversation, not noise
  • Whether it is a policy decision, an event, or a developing issue, The Dissector focuses on clarity over controversy.

Our Editorial Approach

We are:

  • Independent – not affiliated with any political party or interest group
  • Balanced – we explain, not campaign
  • Fact-focused – guided by verifiable information
  • People-first – clarity matters more than speed

We label content clearly, correct errors openly, and prioritise public understanding over virality.

Safety, Accuracy, and Responsibility

We take safety seriously:

  • High-risk claims are verified thoroughly or not published
  • Harmful, false, or inciting content is not permitted

Trust is the foundation of the media. We protect it deliberately.

The platform publishes explanatory content, commentary, and user-submitted reports for informational purposes only. Content on The Dissector does not constitute legal, financial, or professional advice.

Why “The Dissector”?

To dissect is to carefully examine, not to destroy.

The Dissector looks closely at issues, separating fact from assumption, law from opinion, and reality from rumor, so people can make sense of what affects their lives.

Our Commitment

We commit to:

  • Clear explanations
  • Fair moderation
  • Transparency in corrections
  • Respect for contributors and readers

The Dissector is a public-interest platform. Our loyalty is to truth, clarity, and the people.

Founders’ Note

The idea for The Dissector came from a simple frustration:
important things were happening around us, but they were either poorly explained, sensationalised, or lost in noise.

Too often, governance felt distant. The issues lost to emotions as conversations that should have been calm and informative became heated and confusing.

The Dissector was created to change that.

This platform is not about taking sides or chasing outrage. It is about looking closely, asking the right questions, and explaining issues in a way that respects the reader’s intelligence.

We believe the people deserve a medium where:

  • facts are separated from rumours,
  • explanations come before opinions, and
  • everyday people can report what is happening around them safely and responsibly.

Building The Dissector is a learning process, and it will grow with the support of the people. We will make corrections when necessary, listen when we get things wrong, and keep improving.

Thank you for reading, contributing, questioning, and holding us accountable.

Clarity belongs to everyone.
